Bio
Ellen Kamalyan is a 1st year Ph.D. student at American University. She studies Comparative Politics and American Politics with research focuses on religious and ethnic violence and conflict, and regional focuses on the Middle East and South and Central Asia. She uses both qualitative and quantitative methods to explore how institutions and historical legacies impact ethnic relations. Ellen currently works alongside Dr. Adrienne LeBas, assisting in her work on ethnic politics in the Global South.
Prior to coming to American University, Ellen received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Temple University where she worked on research projects pertaining to education policy; election politics in India; and anti-terrorism laws in the international community.
